Executive Director, Operations/Chief Finance Officer. \ Abuja

Job Objective
The objective of the role is to strategically manage, lead and oversee the bank’s operations and finance driving operational excellence, business performance and the attainment of corporate goals.

The purpose of the role is to manage the bank’s finance; drive high quality service delivery through efficient, effective operational systems and support; maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, standards and policies.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 Lead the development of financial, operations, and related strategies and plans in alignment with bank’s vision, direction and goals
 Define operational goals and cascade down to business units and departmental heads
 Lead budgeting, financial planning and forecasting
 Communicate, drive and monitor the implementation of the bank’s strategies and plans for successful outcomes; collaborate with business leaders to drive implementation of the bank’s strategic and operational plans
 Keep abreast of trends and changes in the industry, operating environment, financial regulations and legislation; identify emerging opportunities and implications for the business and advise the Board and management accordingly
 Provide expert advisory support on finance, operations, related and other assigned portfolios to the Board and management
 Identify critical interdependence and foster internal and external collaboration and partnerships to facilitate achievement of the bank’s goals
 Build and maintain relationships with regulators and other relevant stakeholders towards ensuring best outcomes for the bank

Operations and Service Delivery
 Oversee both core and non-core banking operations and ensure high quality service delivery both internally and externally (to customers)
 Align all operations activities and resources with the bank’s strategy and overarching goals
 Foster collaboration across operations teams for operational alignment, efficiency and goal attainment
 Develop and implement systems and processes for operational excellence; drive operational efficiency, cost reduction and optimal asset utilization across operations
 Lead and oversee the design and implementation of service improvement plans
 Facilitate the development and optimization of digital capabilities, and the adoption of appropriate technologies and IT strategies to enhance operations and service delivery
 Develop and maintain service delivery channels to meet customer needs and strengthen the bank’s position.

Financial Management & Reporting
 Manage the bank’s finances including budget and cashflow; advise on resource prioritization and allocation
 Monitor and manage budget implementation and ensure financial plans and budgets stay within approved limits
 Identify, monitor and manage financial and related risks
 Implement and maintain accounting systems, policies and procedures to ensure accurate accounting information and alignment with good practices
 Oversee the preparation of financial statements and reports and ensure conformity to regulatory requirements and approved accounting standards
 Provide and interpret financial information for practical application, to guide operations across departments and the organization
 Identify and optimize cost reduction opportunities
 Oversee and advice management on investment activities; provide advice/recommendations relating to financial and tax considerations of investments, as well as other business transactions.

Business Performance Management
 Lead organization-wide business performance management and reporting
 Develop and maintain a dashboard of key metrics to monitor business performance including key financial and operating KPIs
 Facilitate the review of actual performance vis-à-vis set targets and inculcate a culture of accountability and evaluation in the bank’s management
 Participate in Board meetings as required; present periodic and ad-hoc performance reports and analysis to the Board

Risk Management
 Understand and mitigate key elements of the bank’s risk profile; manage the bank’s exposure to internal and external risks
 Implement and maintain an effective risk management framework including internal control systems and compliance policies, and ensure key risks are covered by appropriate and adequate measures
 Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations
 Report to the Board Audit Committee on risks and related issues.

Team Leadership & Management
 Lead and ensure effective functioning of the bank’s operations group
 Provide leadership and managerial support
 Manage performance; facilitate development; coach and mentor

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
 Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
 MBA or a relevant Masters degree
 Professional banking, finance or accounting qualification e.g. ACIB, ACA, CFA
 Minimum of fifteen years experience with at least ten years in the banking sector spanning finance and operations
 Minimum of eight years in senior management capacity
 Sound knowledge of finance and banking operations

 Knowledge of Nigerian banking industry and market including regulations, standards etc
